All 18, explained.

  1. 1. Leaving the station uphill

    Loimaaveien × Ullerudbakken

    Why to watch out here

There are no signs, so the høyreregel (priority to the right) applies: you yield to cars coming from the roundabout on your right, while cars from below on Ullerudbakken (on your left) yield to you. Locals habitually expect Loimaaveien to stop, and candidates either brake needlessly or fail to notice the car on the right.

    What to do

Slow down before the junction (40 m earlier there is a zebra crossing (gangfelt) with a speed bump), look right at the roundabout exit and yield. If it is clear on the right and a car is coming from below on the left, go ahead confidently but be ready to brake.

  2. 2. Street on the right by the station gate

    Grenåveien → Loimaaveien

    Why to watch out here

From the upper right, between Rema and the station, Grenåveien joins. It is mistaken for an exit from a car park and people do not yield. It is a street, so priority to the right applies, and the examiner (sensor) will not forgive it.

    What to do

After Rema, look up to the right in good time, slow down and let the car from Grenåveien go, and only then turn towards the station gate.

  3. 3. Steep climb with "hidden" side streets

    Ullerudbakken × Skogroveien

    Why to watch out here

The gradient is about 8–9% (from 81 to 108 m over ~310 m), and streets join from the right one after another, the first being Skogroveien, and they are hard to see. Candidates fail to yield to a car on the right, or roll back or stall when they have to stop on the hill.

    What to do

Keep 30–40 km/h and look into every junction on the right in good time. If you have to stop: stop, handbrake or auto-hold, and pull away without rolling back.

  4. 4. Joining E6 northbound

    Korsegården (ramp → E6)

    Why to watch out here

The ramp (80 km/h) merges into E6 with a limit of 110, 100 in winter. Typical mistakes: weak acceleration, stopping at the end of the acceleration lane, and changing lanes without checking the blind spot.

    What to do

Speed up to the speed of traffic already on the ramp, check the mirror and over your shoulder, find a gap and merge smoothly with your indicator on. Do not stop in the acceleration lane without an urgent reason.

  5. 5. First roundabout by the station

    Ullerud roundabout (Osloveien, Fv152)

    Why to watch out here

The roundabout is wide, with two unmarked lanes: candidates drive in the middle, cut the exit, or forget to signal right before their exit. On the exit towards the centre along Osloveien there are zebra crossings (gangfelt) straight away.

    What to do

For the first exit stay in the right part of the roundabout; for later exits you can be further left. Signal right before your exit, mirror and blind spot, then move smoothly to the right. After the exit, check the zebra crossing immediately.

  6. 6. Junction and bus on the hill

    Ullerudbakken × Holterteigen / Bergløkka

    Why to watch out here

An unsigned crossroads: Holterteigen on the right, Bergløkka on the left, and the Holterteigen bus stop right before it. Candidates fail to yield to the car on the right or do not let the bus pull out, even though the limit is 40.

    What to do

At the stop watch the bus's left indicator: with a speed limit up to 60 km/h let it pull out. At the junction yield to the one on your right (Holterteigen).

  7. 7. Skorkeberg: street on the right by the speed bump

    Ullerudbakken × Skorkeberg alle

    Why to watch out here

Skorkeberg alle joins from the right almost right next to the speed bump: attention goes to the bump and the car on the right goes unnoticed. Candidates are warned about this stretch specifically: many small junctions.

    What to do

Slow to 30 before the bump, glance right at Skorkeberg alle, then ahead to the junction with Fugleveien/Skorkebergåsen. Yield to the right, then continue.

  8. 8. Roundabout at Drøbak City

    Osloveien × Åsveien (Fv152)

    Why to watch out here

Two unmarked lanes and a second roundabout after 100 m; candidates mix up the exits Osloveien (north, towards Måna) and Åsveien (towards Ås), do not signal on exit, and do not see the zebra crossing on each exit.

    What to do

Clarify the direction with the examiner (sensor) beforehand; for the first exit use the right part of the roundabout, for later exits further left. Signal right before your exit, and watch for pedestrians on the way out.

  9. 9. Second roundabout and zebra crossings

    Åsveien × Holterveien (Dyrløkke)

    Why to watch out here

The roundabout is surrounded by zebra crossings (gangfelt) on all exits, with shops, petrol stations and the Dyrløkke bus stop nearby. Candidates only look at the cars in the roundabout and do not let a pedestrian cross at the exit.

    What to do

Before entering, check the zebra crossing; in the roundabout, yield; on the way out, check the zebra crossing again and do not stop on it.

  10. 10. Roundabout with a "hairpin"

    Grande (Grandeveien)

    Why to watch out here

A small roundabout with five roads: the continuation of Grandeveien is the first exit, almost a U-turn back. People miss it or cut across without signalling, without noticing pedestrians at the Grande bus stop.

    What to do

Go slowly and count the exits in advance. "Følg Grandeveien" from the south = the first exit, almost straight back: signal right immediately on entry and follow the curve of the roundabout, not across the centre.

  11. 11. Schools and zebra crossings on raised platforms

    Osloveien by Seiersten skole

    Why to watch out here

Several zebra crossings (gangfelt) in a row on raised platforms, "Seiersten skole" bus stops, with Seiersten ungdomsskole and Drøbak skole close by. Candidates drive "at the limit" past children and react late to a pedestrian at the crossing.

    What to do

Before the platforms slow to 30, watch the pavements and bus stops; for any pedestrian at a zebra crossing, stop early and smoothly.

  12. 12. Narrow exit on a hill

    Wienerbrødskjæringa → Niels Carlsens gate

    Why to watch out here

An uphill exit onto the narrow Niels Carlsens gate (30 km/h) with parked cars, and a zebra crossing straight away. A candidate who took the test here wrote that it was hard to get out: "gaten er for tett"; typical mistakes are rolling back and pulling out blind.

    What to do

Stop at the edge, hold the car with the handbrake/auto-hold, edge forward slowly to see the road, yield to the car on the right (from the Torget side) and to pedestrians, then pull away smoothly.

  13. 13. Steep descent to the harbour

    Jørnsebakken × Bråtabakken

    Why to watch out here

A gradient of about 8% (from 28 to 3 m), and Bråtabakken joins from the right. Downhill the car picks up speed, and yielding to a car on the right becomes hard.

    What to do

Descend using engine braking, keep 20–30 km/h, and be ready to stop before Bråtabakken.

  14. 14. Double roundabout on E134

    Månakrysset (E134 × Holtbråtveien)

    Why to watch out here

Two small roundabouts in a row (limit 50) on E134, the road to the Oslofjord tunnel and E6. Candidates arrive too fast, fail to yield at the second roundabout, or do not signal between them.

    What to do

Slow to 30–40 before the first roundabout; right after it there is "Vikeplikt" again for the second. On E134 towards Vassum, speed up only after you have exited.

  15. 15. Roundabouts by E6

    Korsegården (Drøbakveien, Fv152)

    Why to watch out here

You must drop from 70 to 40, there are two roundabouts in a row on either side of E6, and cars from the E6 ramps enter them. Candidates arrive too fast and mix up the exits to E6 and to Ås.

    What to do

Brake early, 30–40 km/h at the roundabout. "Towards Ås": straight through both roundabouts along Fv152; for E6, follow the signs and signal.

  16. 16. School right after the roundabout

    Drøbakveien by Brønnerud skole

    Why to watch out here

After the roundabouts the limit is 40, then straight away an unsignalled crossing, the "Brønnerud skole" bus stop and the school. Candidates are warned directly about speed right here.

    What to do

Keep 40 or less, watch for children at the stop and crossing, and be ready to stop before the crossing.

  17. 17. Tunnel and speed limit change on E6

    Smiehagen tunnel (southbound)

    Why to watch out here

In the tunnel the limit is 90 km/h, ~0.5 km after it 110 (100 from November to April). Candidates brake at the entrance, keep too short a distance, and after the tunnel speed up above the winter limit or take the Korsegården exit too late.

    What to do

Keep 90 and at least 3 seconds from the car ahead; after the tunnel check the speed limit sign. Get into the right lane in good time for the Korsegården/Ås exit.

  18. 18. Bus on a 70 road

    Drøbakveien, Nyveien stop

    Why to watch out here

With a limit of 70, a bus pulling away from a stop must itself yield, but it often pulls out anyway. Candidates either brake hard for no reason or fail to notice the bus pulling out.

    What to do

If you see a bus at a stop, take your foot off the accelerator and be ready to brake without panic; if it has already pulled out, let it go and do not insist on your priority.
